Broad-skill help from a retired contractor, builder, fabricator, and problem solver.
I’ve built houses, chairs, shop projects, farm structures, custom steel parts, electrical and solar systems, and just about everything in between. I’m retired now, so I’m not trying to make a living off every customer. I do this because I like staying busy, helping people, and solving problems the right way.
1 Handy Guy is owned by Tim Kahn, a licensed General Contractor in Tennessee and insured for the work he takes on. You are not calling a franchise or a salesman — you are calling the person who will actually look at the job, think through the problem, and help decide the right way to handle it.
Some jobs are simple: clean out a garage, repair a door, hang shelving, fix trim, or take care of a punch list. Other jobs require someone who understands framing, fabrication, electrical, equipment, building systems, and how things actually go together.
That’s the difference. I bring decades of real construction experience to small jobs, odd jobs, custom jobs, and the kind of projects most people don’t want to touch.
Garage and storage clean-outs, small repairs, punch lists, maintenance, shelving, doors, trim, and basic property help.
Framing, remodeling, decks, barns, sheds, doors, windows, trim, and residential construction details.
Steel brackets, welding, custom shop projects, equipment modifications, mounts, frames, and one-off problem solving.
Practical troubleshooting, equipment wiring support, solar-related shop systems, and electrical problem solving within proper limits.
Gates, fences, small buildings, barns, utility structures, repairs, and practical rural-property solutions.
Custom installations, freight elevator-type projects, shop systems, structural ideas, and jobs that need experience more than a sales pitch.
A few examples of the kind of work and problem solving I’ve been around. From small buildings to full home construction, steel fabrication, solar systems, and farm projects — the skill set is broad on purpose.

I spent more than 30 years in construction, including building homes, working as a contractor, teaching skilled trades, fabricating, repairing, and figuring out practical solutions when there wasn’t a perfect store-bought answer.
Now I take on the work I want to take on. I’m not running a big company, not sending salesmen, and not trying to turn every call into a major invoice. I’d rather do honest work for people who appreciate experience and common sense.
